Hi there!

Welcome to my personal website. I am currently a Masters student in the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University, studying robotic systems development. This program is a degree focused on both the technical and business aspects of bringing a robotic system to fruition.

Within this domain, my interests lie heavily in deep learning for perception and the intricate relationship with downstream elements of the robotics stack. With the continued emergence of end-to-end learning systems, it is crucial to properly contextualize perception challenges within the broader scope of the robotic system. The marriage of perceptual recognition and scalable reinforcement learning will revolutionize the role of robots across industries, and I am incredible excited to be a part of this revolution.

Although my focus may be robotic understanding and autonomy, the most valuable aspect of my work is collaborating with diverse, interesting and creative folks. The people with whom I am surrounded drive my personal and intellectual growth, and I strive to reciprocate in kind. Developing and caring for these relationships is cornerstone to my identity as much as my academic interest in robotics.

I excel in an environment where my problem solving abilities are challenged and where I am pushed to integrate concepts from outside my familiar domains. I operate most effectively when I am continuously empowered to learn new skills and augment my personal body of knowledge.

Who am I?

I promise that I am not a robot myself!... Although, I do enjoy a variety of routines to prevent short-circuiting. Any combination of outdoors and fitness has my hearty approval: running, biking, yoga, hiking and beyond. The hills of Pittsburgh have proved especially challenging for me and my old-school Univega, but we persist.

I'm an avid traveler and am always looking for opportunities to temporarily escape to another region of the world. After I complete my degree program, I have my sights set on Oceania.

Beyond robotics, I have a strong penchant for U.S. domestic policy, international security, and space. While I intend to pursue focused technical robotics experience in the near term, I hope to work my way towards an intersection with these topic in the future.
